10.0.0 CVR UPDATE X

Newer
Older

Your progress from CVR: Retro doesn't carry over. Your old settings, keybinds and mobile layout can be brought over though, and your effect packs, slots and specs come with you. More on that under CVR: Retro Data.

Features

Interface

NEWHalloween Theme

  • Menus, loading screens, prompts and the HUD are black and orange for Halloween, with cobwebs, pumpkins and candy. Layouts and controls are the same.

NEWNew Menu

  • The old button bar is gone. It's a full tabbed menu now: Online, Offline, Loadout, Shop, Customization, Progression and Settings.
  • Dark and White themes.
  • Full controller support on every menu: D-pad focus, bumpers to switch tabs and button prompts.
  • Yes / no popups like the Tutorial prompt only pick a button for you when you're on a controller. On mouse and keyboard nothing is selected, so pressing Enter can't answer one by accident.
  • New phone layouts for the menu and every panel.
  • The topbar is now Tab Menu, Switch Slot and Music.
  • New loading screen, and a new slot screen with a 3D portrait of each build.
  • New Certified Studios intro when you join.

NEWPlayer List

Older8.0.0 · Update 8

Versions

Newer
  1. 10.0.0Oct 24, 2026CVR UPDATE X
  2. 8.0.0Aug 13, 2026Update 8
Older
  • New player list with headshots, display names, usernames and team colors. It sits where the Roblox one was and Tab still shows or hides it.
  • Every player shows their country flag and cash, in both the new list and the Roblox one.
  • Click a player to open their card: View Avatar, Player Info, Copy Settings, Add Friend and Block. Player Info opens their profile with their ranked stats and banner.
  • Copy Settings copies their gameplay, camera and HUD settings. Your keybinds, sensitivity, audio and theme don't change.
  • If you like the old one better, turn off Custom Player List in Settings and you get the Roblox list back.
  • Phones always use the Roblox player list so nothing covers the court. Tablets and PC get the new one.

Shop

  • Redesigned shop with search, filters, sorting, owned markers and an on-court preview for effects.
  • Tabs: Cash, Effects, Slots and Codes.
  • You can gift cash and effects by typing a player's name.
  • Bigger cash packs: 1,000, 2,500, 5,000 and 10,000. Bigger packs give more cash per Robux.
  • Purchases can't get lost anymore. A purchase only goes through once it's saved, and a gift still arrives even if the other player leaves first. If they already own a gifted pack, they get its Gem price instead.
  • Slots and the Premium pass unlock once Roblox confirms the purchase.

HUD

  • One scoreboard with two skins, Retro and Legacy. On PC you can drag it anywhere and it remembers the spot. It never covers the server line at the bottom.
  • Control Hints: on-screen hints that change with what you're doing (Spike or Receive), with cooldown rings and key flashes.
  • Bigger ability and spec readouts that show Active, Ready in, On or Off, plus a Locked Down timer, a SERVE REC tag and the match phase.
  • H is Callout now. It puts a ring on the court under your cursor for 2 seconds that your teammates can see.
  • No Pressure shows on your power bar. While it's building, your power number turns blue and your max power keeps going up the longer the ball's in play. Your current power only gets the bonus above 13, since No Pressure only affects spikes over 13. It tracks your latest spawned ball, or the game ball when you're on a team in pickups or a match, and resets when that ball dies.
  • The Power Wheel is back on B, redesigned. Pick a power from 1 to 15, then Up, Down or None, and your teammates see it over your head for 3 seconds. You can still move while it's open, and it has its own mobile button.
  • The spin serve picker has a 3D ball preview and angle readouts.
  • New float picker. After you pick a float serve, a bar shows Dropper, Deep, Cutter Right and Cutter Left with your keys or controller buttons, or as buttons on mobile. A countdown shows when the standard float goes out if you don't pick.
  • Mind Reader power numbers sit in a bracket frame over each opponent's head.
  • When someone has Mind Reader up, they get a glow on top of their head so everyone knows who's reading powers.
  • Chat tags show in chat again. Your equipped tag goes in front of your name: your team in its color, or your gold season ring tag.
  • League team tags work like they used to. If you're on a league team, the Team tag shows it in your team's color, and captains get [C], [VC] or [CC] in front, like [C] [Falcons].
  • On more than one league team? Every team you're on shows up in Customization -> Chat Tag so you can pick which one shows in chat. Teams with the same name in different regions are kept apart, and their chat tag shows the region too, like [C] [EU] [Falcons].
  • Your captain armband follows whichever team your chat tag shows.
  • Season rings come from the league site now. If your league profile says you won a season, you get that season's ring tag and Champion title automatically, and changing your username won't lose it.
  • Captain armbands are back. League captains, vice captains and court captains wear a C, VC or CC band in their team color. You can turn yours off in Customization -> Armband.
  • Your equipped banner shows on your profile card, and on anyone's card you open with :gstats.

Football

NEWFootball (Halloween Special)

  • Pick the Football map in Customization -> Environment Customization to play football instead of volleyball. Only you switch. Volleyball players don't see football and you don't see volleyball.
  • Pick any other map to get your normal body back.
  • Controls: M1 to dribble (chest the ball in the air), hold M2 to shoot, Left Ctrl to sprint, C to slide tackle, Q to dash and 1 for Rainbow Flick. Keepers dive with Q and E.
  • Every football key can be changed in Keybinds -> Football, and it all works on controller and mobile. On controller, L1 sprints and keepers dive with X and B.
  • Shift Lock (Left Shift / L3) works in football too.
  • Pickups: join Home or Away as GK, DEF1, DEF2, MID or ST from Online -> Pickups. Matches are 2-minute rounds and goals score on their own.
  • Custom games: referees make teams with :cteam and score with :a1 / :a2. The first player into their own box becomes that team's keeper.
  • Press G (D-pad right on controller, the Ball button on mobile) to bring the ball to your feet, and G again to put it away. Doesn't work during a pickups match.
  • Football is just for fun. No cash, XP or quest progress.

CVR: Retro Data

NEWSettings Migration

  • After you pick a slot, if that slot has a CVR: Retro save, you'll get asked "Do you want to migrate your settings from CVR: Retro?"
  • Yes copies that slot's settings over. Only settings you actually changed in CVR: Retro come over, anything you never touched uses the new defaults.
  • No means it won't ask again. You can still do it any time from Settings -> Gameplay -> Play -> CVR: Retro Settings.
  • Progress from CVR: Retro (cash, levels, builds, rolls and items) doesn't carry over. Effect packs, slots and specs do, see below.

What Comes Over

  • Gameplay & display: FOV, FOV effects, hit effects, effect sounds, spec effects, ball highlight, player ball models, directional dives, spike height marker, shift lock options and cursors, block bar FOV lock, captain armband, auto power, legacy scoreboard, map
  • Audio: master, music and effects volume
  • Lighting: every lighting setting
  • Colors: spike, block, set, stamina and floor colors
  • Keybinds: keyboard and controller, plus your 3 preset powers
  • Mobile: your button positions
  • Customization: spike and receive animation, trail colors and trail lifetime, chat tag

NEWEffect Packs, Slots and Specs Carry Over

  • Every effect pack you owned in CVR: Retro is yours here too, gifted ones included.
  • Every slot you owned in CVR: Retro is open here too, gifted ones included.
  • If a slot had a spec in CVR: Retro, the same slot has it here.
  • It happens by itself the first time you join, you don't have to click anything.
  • Everything that comes over shows up in your History.

NEWLaunch Gift

  • The first time you join you get free build tickets based on how many slots you own

Detailed Numbers

  • 1-2 slots owned: 1 Free Build Ticket
  • 3 slots owned: 2 Free Build Ticket
  • 4-6 slots owned: 3 Free Build Ticket

Replays

NEWClips

  • Type :clip in chat to save a replay of the last 30 seconds: every player, the ball and jump footprints.
  • You can clip once every 15 seconds, and your 10 newest clips are kept.
  • Watch your clips from Online -> Clips, with playback speed, camera and timeline controls.
  • Click anywhere on the timeline to jump there, or drag the circle to scrub. A playing clip pauses while you drag and keeps going when you let go.

Pickups

NEWVotekick

  • Use :votekick <player> to start a vote to remove a teammate on your side who's ruining the game.
  • Your side gets 30 seconds to vote Yes or No from the popup in the top right, or with :vote. Majority wins, and the vote ends early once the result can't change.
  • If it passes, the player is out of pickups until the next set. It doesn't kick them from the server.
  • A side needs at least 2 other players to start a vote.
  • If a vote fails, that player can't be voted on again for 2 minutes. Vote cooldowns carry over if you rejoin.

Beach

NEWBeach

  • Beach is back, and this time it has ranked. Queue Beach 2v2, 3v3 or 6v6 in Ranked or Unranked.
  • Sets go to 15, win by 2.
  • The court is shorter (same width) and has no center or attack line.

Ball & Court

Ball & Court Effects

  • Moving Net: the net reacts when the ball hits it.
  • Ball Squash: the ball squashes when it bounces.
  • Impact Effects: a burst on green spikes, an impact ring on hard spikes and a flash on every touch. The Hit Effects setting controls them (All / Only Own / None).
  • Antenna Fault: when the ball hits the antenna it pulses red with a red ring and plays the net sound.
  • Moving Net and Ball Squash can be turned off in settings.

Builds

NEWRoll Tickets

  • Rerolls use roll tickets now instead of costing cash every roll.
    • Normal Roll: 50 cash
    • Lucky Roll: 500 cash, can never land Common
  • Trade 10 Normal for 1 Lucky any time.
  • Buy up to 9,999 rolls at once.
  • A Free Build ticket lets you pick any Physical, Technical and Height at once, on any slot you own.

NEWepicRocket

  • New Epic build: Devoted Jumper + Fast Approach, 5'10" to 6'6".
  • Your spike windup is the normal 0.45 s, so you get Devoted Jumper's extra jump without the slower windup.

NEWepicSky Wall

  • New Epic build: Athletic + Block Control, 6'10" to 7'4".
  • Every block jump gets +0.25 jump.

Build Slots

  • You can switch build slots whenever you want with the new Switch Slot button. You used to be stuck on one slot until you rejoined.
  • Move cash between your own slots, or gift it to other players.
    • 30% transfer fee (minimum 10)
    • A slot can receive up to 1,500 a week
    • The receiving slot has to be at least 3 days old
    • Rolls can't be transferred
  • Loadout -> History logs every cash, roll and free build change on your account. Rolls and free builds show what you had and what you got (like Bounce -> Tempo or 6'0 -> 6'8).

Abilities

Ability Picker

  • If you have more than one toggleable ability, your Ability key opens a picker with all of them, with your Spec at the top. It used to just fire one of them based on a hidden order.

Abilities Library

  • Loadout -> Abilities lists every rollable trait with its rarity and exactly what it does.
  • New Spec tab with your spec's passives and actives and what each one does. Actives say they're only on while your spec is popped.
  • My Build shows your spec's passives and actives too, not just your rolled traits.

NEWmythicTempo

  • New Mythical Physical trait. Your spike approach charges like a block jump: hold jump and let go.
  • Let go in the green to jump higher than Bounce, or in the yellow to jump a little lower than Bounce.
  • Let go too early or hold too long (red) and you get a much weaker jump, and any spike off a red jump is always Too Low, even with traits that normally stop that.
  • The green part is twice as wide as a block green.
  • Setter jumps don't charge and block jumps are the same. Doesn't stack with other jump traits.

NEWmythicBroad Setter

  • New Mythical Technical trait. Your set hitbox is 1.25 bigger on every side.

NEWmythicLockdown

  • New Mythical Technical trait. A kill block strips the hitter's traits for 50 seconds.
  • A kill block that lands out doesn't count.
  • A soft block strips them for 25 seconds instead. If your team touches the ball next, nothing happens.
  • It also blanks their Spec and puts a popped Spec back on full cooldown.
  • The locked down player gets a visual so everyone can see it.

Ranked & Online

NEWQueues

  • Indoor 6v6 is open in Ranked and in the new Unranked queue. Unranked has the same rules, just no Elo change.
  • Ranked matches play on their own ranked servers. Same rules as a normal game, on whatever map you picked.
  • You can queue solo, no party needed.
  • When a match is found you get 15 seconds to accept. If someone declines, everyone else goes right back into the queue.
  • Every queue has its own Elo and win/loss record. Your visible rank comes from your Indoor 6v6 Elo.
  • Your rating is one per account now, not one per slot.
  • Beach 2v2, 3v3 and 6v6 are open too, in Ranked and Unranked.
  • A queued match starts as soon as everyone's loaded in. No countdown and no slot screen.
  • A queued match plays to the end. You can't leave or switch spots through pickups, and votekick is off.
  • If a player leaves the match keeps going. If a whole team leaves, the other team wins by forfeit.
  • Leaving a ranked match counts as a loss and you lose extra Elo on top. Coming back before it ends doesn't undo that.
  • If the other team never shows up, everyone gets sent back to the lobby.

Ranked Stats & Titles

  • Ranked games track your spikes, kills, serves, aces, sets, assists, blocks, receives and digs.
  • My Player is now Loadout -> Profile, with your portrait, build cards, a six-skill radar and your Ranked and League stats.
  • You can equip a title for any rank you've reached above E.

Server List

  • Every server shows its region, players and ping, plus the live score with team names, the match phase, uptime and which of your friends are there.
  • Filters: All, Friends and Open Slots. Sort by players, friends or newest.
  • Private servers get a 6-character join code, and anyone can use Join by Code.

Season Archive

  • League data comes from cvrn.net now.
  • The Season Archive has the AS, EU and NA rosters with captain roles, search and a captains filter. It also shows each player's finishes and awards.
  • Your profile can show your league ratings for each season.
  • New league champion balls: Despair, Saints and Umino. Only players on that league's champion team can equip them.

Cosmetics

NEWHalloween Ball

  • New Halloween ball for everyone: a carved pumpkin volleyball with a glowing jack-o'-lantern face, bats and spider webs.
  • Pick it in Customization -> Player Customization -> Ball.

NEWAnimations

  • You can pick each part of an animation on its own now. For example, the Justice swing with the Metro windup.
    • Pick a set, then click one of its parts under the preview. A second button shows up next to Equip Set, like EQUIP JUSTICE SWING, that equips just that part.
    • Spiking: Windup, Air and Swing
    • Receiving: Forward, Back and Break
    • Blocking: Charge, Jump and Tilts
  • Equip Set still equips the whole set.
  • Spiking: Justice, Metro, Kenny, New Gen, plus the new Lucas set
  • Receiving: Classic, New
  • Blocking, Serving, Diving and Idle sets are new:
    • Blocking: Classic, New
    • Serving: Classic, Standing (tosses to the left)
    • Diving: Classic, Lucas
    • Idle: Classic
  • A preview rig with phase buttons, a timeline scrubber, half speed and rotation. Clicking a part while it's paused jumps to it and stays paused.
  • Your Roblox emotes play while you're standing in the back row now. The back-row idle comes back when the emote ends.

NEWTrail Editor

  • Fully customize your ball trail, with Basic and Advanced modes.
  • Options:
    • Color wheel
    • Lifetime
    • Head and tail width and transparency
    • Max length
    • Texture
    • Mode
    • Brightness and glow
  • New setting, Custom Trails: Show All, Default, Default (Colored), Only Own or None.
  • Trails follow whoever is holding or last touched the ball.

Effects & Balls

  • New Inferno effect pack, bought with Gems.
  • New Halloween effect pack for spiking, jumping and landing.
  • The ball collection is a showroom now, with a 3D preview you can rotate.
  • Team buff and Captain's Call effects are back. A star bursts at a player's feet when a teammate buffs them, and Captain's Call shows its ring on the floor. You can turn the star off with Team Buff Effects in Settings.

Interface Customization

  • Change your bar colors, bar size (75 to 135%) and bar opacity.

Maps & Environment

New Maps

  • Season 2 Finals, Pirate Island and Beach.
  • Every old map is still here.

All Maps

  • Performance, Karasuno, Park, Qualifiers, RVC Stadium, RVC Stadium II, College, Rec Centre, Stadium II, Stadium III, Walnut Grove, Christmas, Season 1 Finals
  • Season 2 Finals (new)
  • Pirate Island (new)
  • Beach (new)
  • Football (new)

Environment Customization

  • Map cards with Indoor, Outdoor, Arena and Favourites filters.
  • 7 floor surfaces (Sand, Smooth, Concrete, Wood, Slate, Grass and Grid) plus floor color. Grid is the classic baseplate look.
  • Performance presets: Original, Match Focus and Lightweight.
  • Lighting presets: Dawn, Noon, Golden and Night, plus a 24-hour time slider.
  • New music track, Summer. All the old tracks are still there.

Practice & Tools

NEWBots Editor

  • The bots panel (:bots or Offline -> Bots) is completely redone, with a bot list, routine cards and Routine, Build and Position tabs.
  • Placement tools: Start / Pause all, Copy, Mirror, Face Net, Undo, Snap, rotation rings and a mini court you can drag on.
  • Save your bot layouts as drills and share them with a 12-character code that works in any server. Up to 24 drills per player.
  • :dummy <kind> puts a bot in front of you. :dummy clear removes them all.
  • Bots with active traits actually use them now. Up to 12 bots per server.

NEWTutorial

  • New players get asked "Would you like to do the tutorial?" after loading.
  • Yes takes you to the new tutorial place. No means it won't ask again.
  • You can start it any time from Offline -> Tutorial.
  • It walks you through the 5 main actions, one drill after another:
    • Spiking: spike the setter's sets into a target, 3 in the front row, 3 in the middle and 3 in the back row
    • Setting: set through a hoop, 3 front sets, 3 back sets and 3 in setter mode
    • Blocking: get 3 kill blocks on a spiker at different heights
    • Receiving: receive or dive 3 mid serves and 3 long serves
    • Serving: land 3 serves in a target. Any serve counts: autoserve (4+ power), set, bump, curve or float.
  • Finishing it gives you 500 cash and a Lucky Roll, then sends you back to the game. The reward is once per account, replaying it is just practice.

Referee Tools

  • Scoreboard +/- buttons go by referee rank now, you don't need to be on a referee team.
  • The admin console (F2) works in every server, depending on your rank.
  • Every command also works as a : chat command.
  • Commands find a player by the start of their username or display name, with or without @. If two players match, one gets picked at random.
  • Commands also work on players who aren't in the server if you type their full username. Anything that changes their save asks you to confirm first, then applies the next time they join.
  • The hit and ability feeds were replaced with a referee-only match log.
  • :inspect is staff only now.
  • Staff can use every referee command without being tmodded.
  • :testbuild (:tb) locks a server to 4 players so they can try builds. While it's on, everyone in the server can use :loadout, :physical, :technical, :spec and :scale, nothing they change is saved, spec cooldowns are off and rolls are paused. Turning it off gives everyone their saved build back.

Anti-Cheat

New Anti-Cheat

  • CVR has a brand new anti-cheat.
  • Lag on its own should not get you flagged (or very rarely).
  • No anti-cheat is perfect, so false positives can happen. If something weird happens to you, like getting snapped back, kicked or flagged when you weren't doing anything wrong:
    • Clip it if you can. A recording makes it way easier to sort out.
    • Open a ticket in our Discord with the clip, the time it happened and what you were doing.
  • Every report helps us tune it, so it gets better for everyone.

Bans

  • Bans use Roblox's own ban system now. A ban covers every CVR place (main, ranked, beach and tutorial) and also hits the banned player's alts.

Adjustments

Adjusted Gameplay

Block Tools

  • Normal tools now dont go exactly to the side of the block but instead a little bit further back and land wide outside the court.

Antenna

  • Balls that clip the antenna pole are out now, even if they cross the net inside the antennas. A ball coming in at an angle used to be able to go through the pole and stay in.

Too Lows

  • The too-low line is a bit higher: 20% -> 25% of the hitbox, so too-lows are a little easier to get.
  • With Lowflow: 12% -> 17%.

Hard Hit Balls

  • You can't spike a ball that was hit hard (power 12+) in the last 2 seconds. You used to be able to, with a speed penalty.

Green Spikes

  • Preclicking doesn't let you green anymore. You have to swing right as the ball reaches your hitbox.

Swipes

  • Swipes don't get cancelled by the setter's "Miss" window anymore, they always go through.
  • Swipes drop way harder. A power 9 swipe from the net lands about 13 studs over in 0.54 s (was about 21 studs in 0.84 s).
  • You don't have to face the net to swipe anymore. Any angle works as long as you're close enough.

Block Green Zone

  • The green zone on the block bar is about 5x bigger. It starts at 90% of the bar instead of 98%, so green blocks are a lot easier.

Block Recovery

  • You can act again 0.2 s after landing from a block (was 0.4 s).

Pull Blocks

  • Everyone can pull out of a block now by pressing Jump mid-block. It used to need the Pull Blocker trait.

Short Blockers

  • Short players lose less height on sideways block jumps. The penalty is 40% of the old one at 5'5 and goes up to the full penalty at 7'4.

Setting From a Block

  • You can't set or back set during a block jump anymore.

Receive Hitbox

  • A ball counts as received once 30% of it is inside your receive hitbox. At least half the ball used to have to be in.

Receiving Forward Spikes

  • A clean receive of a forward-tilt spike doesn't knock you back anymore. You stay where you are and can act again after the normal 1 second.
  • Receive breaks still knock you back.
  • Really hard spikes still slow your walk for a moment.

Receive Break

  • The receive break lock follows the length of your break animation. Classic is still 2 seconds, the New receive set is about 2.5 seconds.

Dives

  • The dive hitbox is smaller: 7.5 wide and 4 tall (was 9.5 and 5.5), and 1 stud shorter front to back.
  • A dive doesn't catch the ball the instant you press it anymore. It starts a moment later and stays live for 1 second (was 1.3).
  • Dive hitbox traits like Rollout still add on top.

Mistimed Dives

  • Mistimed dives are less random. A mistime used to be able to send the ball anywhere on your court.
    • Now they wobble around where the dive would have gone, scaled by how fast the ball was coming.
    • A slow ball dived late can still reach your setter.
  • Diving cancels a spike swing in progress.

Setter Mode

  • Setter mode jump sets and dumps work at any power. They used to do nothing under power 8.
  • Setter mode always puts you in spike jump mode.
  • Camera-aimed sets only work in setter mode. Aiming a set from the ground still needs Trickster.

Stamina

  • Resetting doesn't refill your stamina anymore.

Momentum

  • Momentum keeps building sprint speed during your jump windup instead of freezing when you jump.

Serve Positions

  • The server checks where you serve from.
    • Curve and float serves have to be taken from deep behind the line.
    • Every serve has to be taken from inside the sidelines.

Serve Line Faults

  • The fault is called the moment the serve is hit, not when the ball crosses the net.
  • A jump serve goes by your footprints now. If they're over the line when you jump, it's a line fault.

Autoserve

  • If the 13 second autoserve ever doesn't make it over, the other team gets the point 3 seconds after it finishes ("didn't serve in time").

Toss Hold

  • The curve and float toss only holds you until the ball leaves your hand, then you can move again.
  • Serving right after you land doesn't let you walk during the toss anymore.

Adjusted Pickups

No Back-Row Rule

  • Back-row players can jump from the front row and spike, swipe, dump, block or set it over. There's no back-row fault anymore. They used to not even be able to block jump in the front row.

Rotation

  • Rotating slides you to your new spot from wherever you're standing, instead of snapping you back first.

Ball Spawning

  • Ball spawn (G) cooldown: 1.5 s -> 2 s.
  • You can't spawn a ball in the air, too high above the court, or right on the net.
  • When it's your serve, G spawns the ball above you as your serve, like the old game. Same rules as a normal serve: the serve has to be open and you have to be inside the sidelines and off the net.

Court Lock

  • Court lock is enforced by the server now. Anyone not in a team who walks onto a locked court gets moved off.

Match Countdown

  • If the pickups countdown ends without enough players, it says "Waiting for more players..." instead of just closing.

Adjusted Rerolls

Roll Odds

  • Every roll picks a rarity first, then picks evenly inside that rarity.

Rarity Odds

  • Common: 50% Normal, 0% Lucky
  • Rare: 32% Normal, 50% Lucky
  • Epic: 15% Normal, 35% Lucky
  • Mythical: 3% Normal, 15% Lucky

Odds for One Specific Trait

  • Shown as Old -> Normal / Lucky
  • One Mythical Physical (Bounce, Cannon...): 0.68% -> 0.5% / 2.5%
  • One Epic Physical: 2.72% -> 1.67% / 3.89%
  • One Rare Physical: 6.8% -> 10.67% / 16.67%
  • One Mythical Technical (Swiper...): 0.36% -> 0.23% / 1.15%
  • One Epic Technical: 1.43% -> 1.25% / 2.92%
  • One Rare Technical: 3.57% -> 2.46% / 3.85%
  • One Common Technical: 5.36% -> 8.33% / 0%

Height Rolls

  • Heights are grouped into rarities too:
    • Mythical: 5'5, 5'6, 7'0 to 7'4
    • Epic: 5'7, 6'10, 6'11
    • Rare: 6'6 to 6'9
    • Common: 5'8 to 6'5
  • Tall heights are way easier to land, especially with Lucky Rolls.

Height Odds

  • Shown as Old -> Normal / Lucky
  • 7'0 or taller (total): 1.35% -> 2.1% / 10.7%
  • 6'10 or 6'11 (each): 1.08% -> 5% / 11.7%
  • Each of 6'6 to 6'9: 2 to 2.7% -> 8% / 12.5%
  • 5'8 to 6'5 (total): 85.5% -> 50% / 0%

Other Roll Changes

  • You can roll the same thing you already have. Old rerolls always skipped your current trait.
  • Rolls are locked while a Spec is equipped. That covers Physical and Technical now too, not just Height.
  • You can't reroll while Lockdown has your traits stripped.
  • Hand swap (L/R) is still 25 cash.

New Slots

  • New slots start at 6'0 with no traits.
  • They come with 5 free Normal Rolls, plus 1 for every 10 levels you have.

Shared Progress

  • Your level, XP, battle pass, quests and ranked rating are shared across all your slots now. Every slot used to be its own separate profile.
  • Cash and rolls are still per slot.

Adjusted Traits

  • Every trait change below was voted on by the community in the balance polls. Bounce, Athletic and Mind Reader (200 s cooldown) were voted to stay the same.

mythicBlitz

  • Blitz is a setter trait now. Spikes off your sets at power 12 to 15 fly 10% faster.
  • Hitters can green 0.4 s sooner after your set, and can hit your sets from 0.2 s after instead of 0.325 s.
  • It used to only speed up your own spikes.

Breaker

  • Where a break lands depends on your tilt now. The ball keeps the line of your spike and kicks off whichever side of the block it hit.
  • W spikes drive down short, right behind the blockers.
  • Spikes with no tilt, A or D carry to the middle of the court. S spikes float deep toward the end line.
  • Every break used to float long into the middle of the court.

mythicWingspan

  • Wingspan: +1.15 -> +0.8 attack and block reach.
  • Wingspan doesn't make greens easier anymore. Green spikes need the same contact height as everyone else.
  • Receive depth and arm length are the same.
  • This also affects every Spec and build that gives Wingspan.

mythicWide Reach

  • Wide Reach is a mythic trait now instead of epic.
  • Wide Reach doesn't make greens easier anymore. Green spikes need the same contact height as everyone else.
  • Its bigger hitbox doesn't give a taller green zone either. The green zone is the same size for everyone, it just sits higher on Wide Reach.
  • No more block bonus. Broad Blocker is the block hitbox trait now.
  • Attack hitbox width and depth: +1 -> +0.5. The hitbox sits higher now, so its top reaches +0.6 above a normal hitbox.
  • This also affects every Spec and build that gives Wide Reach.

rarePull Blocker

  • Pull Blocker was removed since pulling out of a block is something everyone can do now.
  • It can't be rolled anymore.

commonHasty

epicSprinter

  • Hasty's sprint speed cap bonus: +4 -> +3. Its +2 walk speed stays.
  • Sprinter also gives +3 sprint speed cap now, the same top speed as Hasty, on top of its faster build-up.

mythicVertical Leap

  • No more sudden drop at 6'11. Standing spike jumps get the full +1.8 up to 6'6, then it fades evenly down to +1.2 at 7'0.
  • Standing block jumps get +1.4 up to 6'6 (was +1.8), fading evenly down to +0.96 at 7'0.

epicReactor

  • Every block jump bonus: +2.4 -> +2.5, the middle of a real green.

mythicNo Pressure

  • Fills up in 20 seconds instead of about 32.
  • Tops out at +1 power (16 at normal max power) instead of +1.35.

rareBig Brain

  • Ground attack hitbox: +0.06 -> +0.3 on every side, so ground sets reach further. It still shrinks back in the air.
  • Dive depth: +0.075 -> +0.3.

epicRelentless

  • Only spikes above power 12 cost stamina now (was above 8).
  • The cost is 20% of your max stamina, rounded up, instead of a flat 5.

epicMomentum

  • Also gives +2 walk speed all the time.

epicDevoted Jumper

  • Jump speed: 1.25 -> 1.2, the same height as a green Tempo. The longer windup and slower block charge stay.

mythicPrecision Setter

  • The no-hit window after your set drops to 0.125 s when it's your Technical.
  • Your hitters can green 0.3 s sooner after your set.

epicStep Approach

  • Spike jumps are about 9% weaker while it's on (was 17%). The 0.2 s windup stays.

mythicTempo

  • Green block jumps get +0.4. Other block jumps are the same.

commonFake Block

  • Fake Block is a common trait now instead of mythic.

epicWiper

  • Wiped and tooled balls keep more of your spike speed: 0.0175 -> 0.028.

epicStance

  • Receive hitbox bonus: +1.5 wide / +1.3 deep -> +1.25 wide / +1.1 deep.
  • This also affects every Spec and build that gives Stance.

rareLowflow

  • Lowflow's too-low line: 12% -> 17% (same as the general too-low change).

mythicCaptain's Call

  • The ground effect visual was removed.
  • The receive bonus goes to teammates in the back row when you call it, instead of teammates with "lib" or "ds" in their name.

Builds

  • Archer's +0.1 power only triggers off setter-mode front sets now, not back sets.
  • Guardian stacks and Zatorski's team speed buff trigger on dives too, not just receives.

Toggle Traits

  • Toggle traits (Arc Receiver, Flexible Wrists) reset when you rejoin.

All Physical Traits

  • Mythical: Bounce, Vertical Leap, Cannon, Wingspan, Athletic, No Pressure, Tempo (new), Wide Reach
  • Epic: Momentum, Devoted Jumper, Reactor, Broad Blocker, Solid Form, Butterman, Sprinter, Relentless
  • Rare: Heavy Hitter, All-Rounder, Big Brain
  • Common: Endurance, Big Lungs, Hasty, Hard Headed

All Technical Traits

  • Mythical: Swiper, Unbreakable, Trickster, Backrow Blitz, Flexible Wrists, Mind Reader, Captain's Call, Precision Setter, Speed Surge, Blitz, Lockdown (new), Broad Setter (new)
  • Epic: Eagle Eyes, Wreckage, Magician, Grounded Setter, Arc Receiver, Stance, V Blocker, Breathing Control, Block Control, Spin Control, Wiper, Step Approach
  • Rare: Feint, Hesi, Fast Approach, Soft Blocker, Tool Maestro, Anchor, Controlled Receiver, Bullseye, Block Visionary, Glider, Ambidextrous, Lowflow
  • Common: Glide Blocker, Float Control, Flexible Blocker, Swift Recovery, Rollout, Fake Block

Adjusted Specs

Spec Lineup Update

  • The spec balancers rebuilt 35 specs. Every outside hitter, middle blocker, opposite, setter and libero on their list got a new passive and pop list, with updated heights, pop times and cooldowns. The full list is at the bottom of this section.
  • NEWGiba (Outside Hitter, 6'3) and Marko Podraščanin (Middle Blocker, 6'8) are new specs.
  • Lucas Saatkamp: his instant-set spike is 15.8 power, and his Buffed Mind Reader is 75 s cooldown, 55 s active.
  • Micah Christenson: Leader gives the team +0.3 power and +0.6 jump (was +0.2 and +0.8).
  • NEWAntoine Brizard: new pop special, Wall. His teammates get a 0.5 bigger attack hitbox and 0.5 wider blocks.
  • NEWThales Hoss: new pop special, Breath. His teammates' stamina regens twice as fast. He always has Buffed Eagle Eyes now, so he also sees where every spiker in the air would land it.

Reach Tuning

  • Yuki Ishikawa: Athletic 0.3, popped Bounce 0.6.
  • Robertlandy Simon: Athletic 1.
  • Marko Podraščanin: Nerfed Bounce 0.2.
  • Akihiro Yamauchi: Athletic 0.2.
  • Maxwell Holt: Wide Reach width 0.2, height 0.1.
  • Nimir-Abdel Aziz: Bounce 0.5.
  • Maksim Mikhaylov: Wide Reach height 0.1.
  • Jean Patry: popped Bounce +1.35 -> +0.2.
  • Yuji Nishida: loses his passive +0.9 Bounce, keeps Tempo.
  • Darlan Souza: popped Bounce +1.2 -> +0.4, passive Bounce 0.8 -> 0.6.
  • Yuri Romano: Athletic 0.5 -> 0.4.

New Specials

  • Giba, The MVP: every spike he receives gives his next spike +0.2 power, stacking twice, until the rally ends.
  • Giba, No Fear (pop): against a blocker 6'9 or taller, his spike has a 75% chance to wipe or tool the block.
  • Giba, Hang Time (pop): tilt back (S on keyboard) near the top of a spike jump to hang in the air for up to 0.7 s. Works on every device.
  • Wilfredo Leon, Apex (pop): a spike above 3.70 m that meets a block stops that blocker from blocking or spiking for 15 s.
  • Marko Podraščanin, Lurking Monster: every ball he touches on a block makes his block 0.1 taller until the rally ends.
  • Marko Podraščanin, Re:Jump (pop): twice per pop, jump again while blocking to drop straight to the ground, run at 40 for 1.5 s and jump again right away. After a Re:Jump he can only block jump until a teammate touches the ball or the rally ends.
  • Bartosz Kurek, Slam Dunk (pop): every spike jump launches like a full run-up, even standing still, with the full run-up jump effect and sound.
  • Micah Christenson, Newton's Law (pop): his sets fall half as fast for a moment once they reach the top.
  • Saeid Marouf, Orchestrator (pop): every teammate who spikes off his set for the first time adds 0.05 to his stack, and that spike gets the whole stack. The first new spiker gets +0.05 power, the second +0.1, the third +0.15 and so on. Teammates who already spiked off him get nothing. A kill or the end of his pop resets it.
  • Fabio Balaso, Spider (pop): he gets up from dives twice as fast, and every ball he receives gives his teammates Stance until the rally ends.
  • Fabio Balaso, Buffed Speed Surge: a 0.5 s burst at speed 60, every 30 s.
  • Luciano De Cecco, Tricky: his receives have Buffed Bullseye, the same as Giannelli's sets, so teammates can hit them after 0.075 s.
  • Robertlandy Simon, No Time To Waste (pop): his block charges in 0.13 s, and his block jumps reach the same height faster. His Hesi has a 35 s cooldown now.
  • Alexander Nikolov, Mad Dog (pop): his receive and dive hitboxes are 35% smaller.

Setter Set Windows

  • Setters use their best set-window perk now instead of whichever one came first.
  • How soon hitters can touch a setter's set (normal is 0.325 s):
    • Simone Giannelli: 0.075 s.
    • Fran: 0.125 s.
    • Micah Christenson, Antoine Brizard, Bruno Rezende, Masahiro Sekita, Mayano Top Gun: 0.175 s.
    • Luciano De Cecco: 0.2 s.
    • Moni Nikolov: 0.175 s, 0.075 s popped.
    • Hawks: 0.175 s, 0 s popped.
    • Gold Ship: 0.2 s, 0 s popped.
    • Saeid Marouf: 0.325 s, 0 s popped.

Other Spec Changes

  • Augustin Loser: block jump glide cap 19.5 -> 24.
  • Moni Nikolov: popping also gives Change Mode Mid Air now.
  • Alessandro Michieletto: Athletic doesn't add jump speed anymore.
  • Hawks: block glide cap is 24 now.
  • Marko Podraščanin: Re:Jump is limited to two per pop again. A Re:Jump late in the block, or after touching the ball on it, used to be free.
  • Yuji Nishida: Backrow Blitz gives him +0.3, so he spikes 15.7 from the back row. Popped it's still 15.8, so popping doesn't lower his back-row power anymore.
  • Every spec with Wingspan or Wide Reach gets those traits' changes unless its list below says otherwise.
  • NEWMyriam Sylla: new outside hitter. Side Out: after you receive a serve or a hard spike, your next attack that rally gets a 0.5 bigger attack hitbox and +0.2 power.
  • NEWMayano Top Gun: the custom spec from CVR: Retro is back, with the same passives and powers.

V Blocker

  • V Blocker can't be switched on or off in the air anymore. Only Piotr Nowakowski's Sky-Zone can do that, and his block pose switches with it.

Spec Activation

  • Specs have to be activated on the ground now.

Adjusted Ranked & Matchmaking

Letter Tiers

  • Ranks are letter grades now, with new badge art. The Elo you need for each one is the same.

Rank Tiers

  • Bronze -> E (0 Elo)
  • Silver -> D (150 Elo)
  • Gold -> C (300 Elo)
  • Emerald -> B (500 Elo)
  • Diamond -> A (750 Elo)
  • Ace -> S (1000 Elo)
  • SuperAce -> SS (1500 Elo)

SS Rank

  • SS only needs 1500 Elo. SuperAce used to also need a top 1000 spot on the leaderboard.

Elo Rules

  • Uses team-average Elo.
  • Your first 10 placement matches in a queue move your Elo faster.
  • Elo updates after every ranked set and never goes below 0.

Elo Range

  • The search starts tighter and widens faster: ±100, growing 10 per second, up to ±800 max.
    • It used to start at ±200, grow 50 every 10 seconds and had no cap.
  • Teams are balanced by rating now instead of filled in list order.

Match Servers

  • Match servers wait up to 90 seconds for everyone to get there, then start.
  • You get sent back to the lobby 10 seconds after the set ends.

Parties

  • Party invites last 30 seconds (was 10).
  • Max party size is still 6.
  • If the leader leaves, the next member becomes leader.
  • Joining or leaving a party while queued cancels the queue.

Leaderboards

  • Leaderboards are top 100 per queue, ranked by Elo or Wins, with tier badges and your own row.

Adjusted Rewards

Match Rewards

  • Both teams get the same rewards now.
    • Win: 100 cash + 5 XP + 50 BP XP
    • Loss: 50 cash + 25 BP XP
    • Aces, kills, kill blocks and assists: 5 XP + 5 BP XP each, for both teams

Battle Pass

  • The battle pass tier rewards were rebuilt and they're a lot bigger.
  • The free track alternates cash and XP, from 5 at tier 1 up to 260.
  • The premium track gives the opposite reward of the free track, doubled.
  • These rewards didn't change:
    • The Nature effect set at tiers 20 / 40 / 60 / 80
    • Divine (free) at tier 100
    • Cosmic (premium) at tier 100

Battle Pass Totals

  • Free track: 3,150 cash + 4,305 XP -> 6,625 cash + 6,493 XP
  • Premium track: 4,935 cash + 5,280 XP -> 11,926 cash + 13,250 XP

Hourly Reward

  • You earn the hourly reward for every full hour you actually play. Just joining doesn't pay it out anymore.
  • Your progress toward the next hour is saved, so leaving or switching servers keeps it.

Premium

  • Premium is a gamepass now.
  • Premium gifting has a player picker. If the person already has Premium or left, your gift is saved as a credit you can send later.

Codes

  • Codes can give Normal and Lucky Rolls now, not just cash.
  • Codes moved to Shop -> Codes.

Bug Fixes

Gameplay Fixes

Swiper

  • A Swiper spike that hits the net before the block doesn't get swiped off the block anymore.

Flexible Wrists

  • Flexible Wrists has been changed a little bit on serves. A curve serve keeps its curve and gets the topspin. Floats, and serves where you picked your own topspin or backspin, didn't change.

Ambidextrous

  • Your hand switches back to your own hand when you lose Ambidextrous, whether it's from a spec or build change or from losing your traits. The swapped hand used to stay until you rejoined.

Headshots

  • Way fewer fake headshots. Headshots are checked against where your head actually is now.

Antenna Lines

  • Antenna lines are perfectly symmetric now, each exactly 1 stud inside its pole. They used to be slightly off-center.
  • The out marker shows where the ball actually hit the antenna, not where it crossed the net.

Green Spikes

  • Perfectly timed swings don't miss the green by a hair anymore. The ball is judged where it first reaches your hitbox, instead of up to a frame later. About 1 in 4 perfect swings on a normal set used to come out just under the green.

Swiped Balls

  • A swiped ball can't be spiked or swiped by anyone, before or after it comes off the block. Once someone digs, sets, dives or dumps it, it can be spiked again.

Practice Bots

  • Bots from a loaded drill aren't all black anymore. They look the same as bots you place yourself.
  • Your spiking traits work against practice bots now. A bot's block or dig used to ignore them, so Breaker, Unstoppable, Block Shatter, Tool Reach and other traits like that did nothing against bots. Setter traits like Blitz also apply when a bot spikes your set now.

Specs That Last Until a Spike

  • Serving doesn't use up a pop that lasts until a spike anymore. V serves used to end it.

Slots

  • You can switch slots during a pickups set now, between rallies. Your spec cooldown carries over to the new slot. Ranked sets still keep the slot you queued with.
  • Switching slots doesn't get stuck on "Loading slot..." after a few tries anymore. You get a message instead and can try again.

Eagle Eyes

  • Eagle Eyes shows the real flight path now, including net bounces, tape and float movement. It used to ignore all of those.

Setter Mode Blocking

  • Being in block jump mode and setter mode at the same time was a bug, it's gone.

Stuck Rallies

  • A failed autoserve doesn't leave the rally stuck anymore.

Earvin Ngapeth & Robertlandy Simon

  • Fake Jump and Hesi can be used during the pop again.

Typo

  • "Too long too serve" now says "too long to serve".

Autoserve

  • The autoserve doesn't lose the point while the ball is still in the air anymore.
  • An autoserve doesn't get stuck as a curve toss with no hit if you had the curve picker open.
  • Your power goes back to what it was after an autoserve.

Serve Animation

  • Pressing serve before the serve opens, or from outside the serve area, doesn't lock you in the toss animation anymore. Outside the serve area it flashes where to stand instead.
  • The server doesn't play a serve animation while waiting to serve anymore.

Ghost Serves

  • If the ball was still rolling when the next serve opened, a drop serve or standing serve went straight through players. Fixed.
  • You can bump your own toss over as your serve now. It used to go straight through you.

Fake Block

  • Fake Block doesn't leave you stuck in the block crouch anymore.

Trickster

  • Trickster sets play their aimed set animation again when Magician is on too.

Block Reactions

  • Blockers flinch their left or right hand again when a spike wipes, off-hands or one-touches a flat block.

Swiper Animation

  • Swipes play the Swiper swing again instead of your normal spike swing.

Power Bar Colors

  • A power buff doesn't paint your whole power bar orange anymore. The bar keeps your Spike, Block or Setter color and only the number turns blue while a buff is on, like before. The bar only turns orange during a Backrow Blitz jump.

Ape Nerf After Blocks

  • Spiking the second touch after a block always gets the ape nerf now. It used to get skipped when the block sent the ball straight back without crossing the net. Abilities that lower or remove the ape nerf still work.
  • The ape nerf doesn't carry over into the next rally anymore. If a point ended right after a block, the first spike of the next rally used to get nerfed.

Exploit Fixes

Serve Line Faults

  • Serve line faults are server sided now.

Stamina

  • No more infinite sprint exploits.
  • Holding sprint while standing still doesn't regen stamina anymore.

Matchmaking Rating

  • Matchmaking uses your real Elo from the server now.

Interface Fixes

Team Chat

  • Chat doesn't show two Team tabs during a set anymore.

Block and Tempo Bars

  • The block and tempo charge bars don't hide behind your character anymore when you look sideways without Shift Lock. They always show on the right side of your screen now.

Controller D-pad Left

  • D-pad Left used to fire Setter Mode, Spec, Power Wheel and Ability all at once. Now it's just Ability.

Mobile Auto-Tilt

  • If you hold the stick through takeoff, it has to go back to center before it tilts you. Running into a jump doesn't auto-tilt you anymore.

Camera

  • The camera doesn't sink under the floor on some maps anymore.

Lighting Clock

  • Spamming lighting presets doesn't freeze the clock anymore.

Private Servers

  • Private server owners' moderator powers work properly now.
  • Private server owners can run every referee command, kick and server-ban people in their own server, and use :tmod to give a friend the referee commands for that server. They can't do any of this to staff.
  • Private server owners can :unban people they banned from their server.
  • Private server owners can use :newcode to give their server a new join code. The old code stops working, so anyone who got it can't join anymore.

Power Bar

  • Team power buffs from a teammate's spec (like Gold Ship) show on your power bar now. They always applied, the bar just didn't show them.
  • No Pressure on your power bar counts the ball nearest to you now, even if someone else spawned it. It used to only count your own spawned ball.

Reroll Text

  • Fixed garbled symbols in the reroll screen hints.

Quality of Life

Smoother Gameplay

Smoother Ball

  • Ball updates come in at a steady 30 per second (was 20), plus a guaranteed update on every touch.
  • Between updates your game runs the full ball physics, net, tape and floor included, instead of just guessing with gravity. Way fewer snaps and teleports, especially around the net.
  • Out-of-order packets get thrown away instead of rubber-banding the ball.
  • The ball simulates in small fixed steps, so a server lag spike doesn't make it jump anymore.
  • Arcs, gravity and speeds are exactly the same as before. The ball still shows at your ping, like old CVR.

Landing Marker

  • The landing marker is thicker and sits above the court lines, so the lines don't hide it anymore. Still green for in and red for out.

Controls

Rebinding

  • Jump, Spike / Receive and Shift Lock can be rebound now.
  • Every key is in Keybinds now. Air Tilt (W / A / S / D), Callout, Power Wheel, Player List and Tutorial Tasks are on a new Tilt & Menu tab.
  • Power presets, Callout and Tutorial Tasks can be bound on controller too.
  • Power presets can be decimals, like 7.5 for sets or 13.1 for serves. Type the number in Keybinds, the - / + buttons still move by 1.
  • One Reset button resets keyboard and controller together.
  • Rebind from chat with :bind.

Power Keys

  • Power up/down repeats while you hold it now, on every device. It used to only repeat on controller.

Mobile Buttons

  • The old CVR buttons are back: the round navy buttons from CVR: Retro, plus the old shift lock icon next to Hit that lights up while it's on.
  • Setter Mode, Serve, Jump Mode and the power buttons fit on screen on every phone now. They could end up under the top bar before, so you couldn't use setter mode on mobile.
  • New touch buttons: Ability, Spec, Dump, power presets, Setter Mode, Power Wheel and float types.
  • Tap Edit Buttons in the top bar to move and resize your buttons, and to move the scoreboard. Reset Layout puts everything back.
  • Your CVR: Retro button layout lands exactly where you had it.

Menus & Shop

Codes

  • Codes aren't case-sensitive anymore and ignore extra spaces.

Gifting

  • If the person you're gifting isn't there, the purchase goes to you instead of getting lost.

Purchase Confirmations

  • Purchase confirmations start on Cancel so you don't buy something by accident.

Equip Whole Pack

  • Equip an effect pack across every slot in one click.

Map Loading

  • Maps load before they show up.
